Visiting the Opera Dienstag aus Licht I lsten to a seminar with the composer where he acts, speaks, and shows off. This is what he said.
The spatial dimension in music is the next and very important point to develop. He said that he has been working with this issue since the fifties but at this point he still don´t think that the technique is good enough to fulfill the demands that you have to raise to be able to control the course of events or the autenticty of the sounds. (This was in 1993).
Stockhausen gets a question:  Are you not more of a physicist in stead of a musician when you controll the music by all the technical means? "Das ist nur quatch" (Bull-shit). Alles das klingt ist musik. And he answers with a question: Are you are physicist just because you drive a car?
